Privacy Policy

CrossDriver Files and ExePeek · Effective November 1, 2026

This policy applies to CrossDriver Files, ExePeek (website and Mac App Store versions) and their Quick Look preview extensions, provided by CrossDriver (“we”). In short: your files never leave your Mac, statistics are optional and off by default, and we collect nothing that identifies you.

1. Your files stay on your Mac

Browsing, copying, moving, renaming, moving to the Trash, previews and ExePeek's analysis of .exe and .dll files all happen on your Mac. We do not upload file or folder names, paths, file contents, volume names or serial numbers, and we do not log them. The apps can only access locations you authorize with “Choose a Folder…”.

2. Software updates (website version only)

The website version requests the update list from files.crossdriver.com or exepeek.crossdriver.com and, with your consent, downloads updates. As with any network request, the server sees your IP address and the app version while connected; our server logs record neither IP addresses nor user agents, and no system profile is collected. You can turn off automatic checks in Settings › Updates. The Mac App Store version is updated by the App Store and does not contact these servers.

3. Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports (optional, off by default)

Only if you turn this on — in the first-run guide or in Settings › Privacy (in ExePeek, the ExePeek menu) — is the following sent:

SentApp version and build, channel (website or App Store), macOS version, processor architecture and interface language; whether the app was used on a given day; the key preset (Windows or Mac); whether the first-run guide was completed and whether a folder was authorized (yes or no); counts of authorization failures; for crashes, the exception type, signal and call stack (module names and offsets).
Never sentFile or folder names, paths, file contents, volume names or serial numbers, clipboard contents, lists of installed apps, crash exception messages, account or hardware identifiers.
IdentifierA randomly generated install identifier, replaced at least every 90 days. Turning statistics off immediately deletes the identifier and any unsent data on your Mac; turning them on again creates a new, unrelated identifier. It is not linked to your identity and cannot be used to identify you.
RetentionThe server records only the day the data was received — not your IP address — and deletes the data automatically after 90 days. It is used only to understand usage, improve the apps and fix crashes. It is never sold, never used for advertising and never used to track you across apps or websites.

Mac App Store version: if you chose “Share with app developers” in macOS, Apple may separately provide us with aggregated crash and usage data under Apple's privacy policy.

4. No accounts, no ads, no third-party analytics

CrossDriver Files and ExePeek are free and need no account or activation. They contain no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking code.

5. Where data is processed

The update and statistics servers are located in Hong Kong and operated by CrossDriver. Data sent from other countries and regions is processed there under the safeguards described in this policy.

6. Your choices and rights

You can turn statistics on or off at any time; turning them off stops all sending immediately. Because the identifier is random and not linked to you, we cannot find, export or delete one person's data on request — it is deleted automatically within 90 days. For any other privacy question or request, write to us.

7. Children

The apps are general-purpose tools and do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will publish the new version on this page with a new effective date.
